Dont worry about the Nitrate - that's fine for this stage of the cycle and just shows that the bacteria needed for converting the Nitrite to Nitrate is doing its job.

If you get these readings for the next couple of days then you can cut back on the amount of ammonia you are adding and just bring the level up to 2.

Hiya everyone!

Todays readings -
PH 8.0!!! Dont know why that is!
Ammonia 0.5 - it has gone up - dont know why that is either
Nitrite 5.0
Nitrate 80

I dont knoiw why these readings have gone a bit mad today - any ideas anyone? I am still topping the ammonia up to 4

I'd drop to 2ppm ammonia now & wait for those high nitrItes to drop.

Looking fine, the pH will be affected by the ammonia ups & downs, the nitrAte, as mentioned, is fine too. The big water change at the end of the cycle will sort that out Very Happy
