As some of you know, recently I had to move my coldwater fish (goldfish and WCMM) from their current tank to a new tank due to the old tank springing a leak. Anyway, I had just gotten to the point in the old tank where it was lovely and clean and had gone beyond that horrible brown gunky buildup of diatoms that often affects new tanks. Guess what? The new tank is now covered with the same horrible brown gunky mess so back to square one....grrr, time to dig out the algae sponge and toothbrush again. Evil or Very Mad

Oh that's such a pain.

I still have brown algae in my Goldies tank although it's not as bad as it was a while ago. I have live plants in that tank so I dont know whether to add a few more and try to kill off the algae that way but now I have 4 goldies in there I want to make sure they have plenty of swimming space.

Hope it all clears up quickly for you Mary

Well it's manageable on a week to week basis -it's the initial mega-clean that's going to take a while.. Rolling Eyes

Have you increased either the feeding or the lights recently, Fishfan?

I was thinking I might be feeding them too much to be honest. Whats your feeding regime?

I feed every morning - either flake or equivalent, and also throw in some veg at times too. Dont want my corys to starve!

I might be wrong FF but I think Mary feeds them every other day. Wait for her to confirm that though Very Happy

I do indeed, Diana - well technically it's 4/7 days. Fish flake (Mo & Fr), Veg (We & Su), Algae tabs (Mo & Fr) and live/defrosted food (We & Su). The fish won't starve if you miss the odd day FF and foraging for food is a natural instinct. Wink
