PostSubject: done it...yeaaaaaa   Sun Apr 26, 2009 1:18 am

been busy this morning
emptied E's tank and Malc took the black background off.
it didnt take him long, which suprised me with the amount of aqua glue he put on..
its like a weight has lifted his tank now matches the marine one.
he has his bubble curtain back on the back wall.
he was ok this time he was playing dead when I went to get him out to put in shopping tub..lol
then when i went to get him to put him back in tank he just swam into bucket.. Very Happy
so he is now trained him Very Happy
He can see into the Marine tank now, Shocked so we shall see what happens
they all seem ok and not scared of each other......

I think it looks great now, and E doesan't have to have the light on all day to see him.
and at night even with the spots on you couldn't see him.
we cleaned his external filter out this time, for the first time.
well the white media,I washed in his water put it back along with a new peice,
in a couple of months I will do the same, keep the newest and chuck the oldest.
Keep rotating it..

Also we cleaned the marine tank out this morning
guess what No bites.. Very Happy
Im getting too good at this tank changing malarkie laughing

Its looking good chez - I bet E is all relieved now Smile

As for the filter - do you have to throw any of the media away? I am still usig the filter media in the fluval that I had when I first cyclled the tank and it is still doing the job. Every time you throw any away you are going to be losing some of you bacteria aren't you, and I doubt there is any need to ditch it in such a new tank.

Actually - I doubt he can see the marine tank now - he will probably see his own reflection

Light refraction plus two layers of glass n water n air n all that physics malarky Very Happy

I think it depends on the distance (ie amount of air) between the two tanks - if there is a reasonable amount of gap - they may be able to spot each other - my fighetr occasionally dosplayed at passers by in the main tank - bt they had to be right next to him before he spotted them

Even if he can see them - there isnt a whole lot he can do about it (besides get stroppy and throw himself into a pink net)

lol Rich I will have you know no pink net was used Smile

I have a small cream bucket and I corner him he has nowhere to go but in the bucket.
I was suprised yesturday
he just swam into it..... bless.
I told him its the last time so that might have helped... Very Happy
Apart from that I doubt he will fit in the bucket in a couple of months..

I think as you say Rich he maybe see himself or just orange movements flash passed.lol

Dekker
Malc did it he scraped it off with first a stanley knife.to cut out bits to get behind it.
then he used a new 3 inch wallpaper stripper with a very thin blade.
then a glass paint stripper to get the glue off....

I Wanted to move E's tank to the back where the marine is,
but we would have to empty it completely gravel as well.
cos of the weight, then half empty marine then switch round.
too big a job with my bad back.
plus if I was going to get rid of one of the tanks it would be the marine,
so that would leave E right at the back..
which I don't want, although you cant miss him where ever you are in the room.lol

Looking good there, chez. Are you leaving both tanks there? If so, there's a nice space on the other side of the fireplace for a Betta Tank... cheers

lol the hardest part was papering the 1 and a 1/2 inch gap between E's tank
and chimney breast
I gided the paper through and malc did his best sticking it to wall
with E's tank cleaning pad on a plastic pole.lol
only thing that would fit in the gap.
behind the tank isant paper'ed Shocked
so it looks like I wont be moving him anymore.

That does look good chez. Glad to see all your fish are doing ok. Did you ever put some 'toys' in E's tank? I think I remember you thinking about it at one time?
