sounds good chez, maybe aclimatise the fish using a polly box and a clamped airline?

as long as the salinity is the same and the PH is similar it should be fine.

Any further pics?

That unbreakable heater a Rena? sure I got one somewhere, the one which can be attached to an external filter? lovely pieces of kit.

So Chez whats your wish list for your river reef?

Just keeping the ones in there for now Dave
they seem happy enough together,
not really been looking at what goes with what yet,
I Like the lilac one with the yellow stripe.
not into the names as yet.?

I Will get a bucket of water out of old tank and transfer into new one
i'll do this a couple of times saturday to try and match there water,
then with a jug hopefully they will swim in,
transfer them to new tank that way, there only tiny,
then sort of lower the jug into new tank carefull.
and do the same with horace>boxer shrimp.
they are really friendly and eat food of your finger

Malc got one push his hand today when he went in for some live rock.
like it was saying "Het what you doing taking our rock..lol"
it was so funny....

more pics tomorrow when most of the rock is in place.

PostSubject: Re: MARINE TANK DIARY   Sat Apr 04, 2009 7:43 pm

All done, phew........................

It was done yesturday afternoon but I thought I would hang on for the update,
till this morning,
to make sure we all survived the night.. all accounted for Very Happy

I started by moving the rock that was left in
put it in the new tank,
Then I took a bucket of water out of the old tank them put it in the new,
then put a bucket back in the old tank,
waited about 15 mins then did it again, checked readings on both tanks both the same.
first in was one of the hermit crabs, then the other,
then I Netted 1 clown then gently put him in new tank
then the other, the worst one to get was the shrimp, blimey they can move,
then I Took more water out of the old tank, this left 1 snail.
I Had to knock him off the back wall, scooped him up in net put him in new tank.

I left the main lights on in the tank to help the live plants
the clowns, seem ok, and the shrimp.

All the live plants seem to have survived, Toadies,Xenia,Duncan.
Last night put the blue night light on,for a hour before bed.
then turned it off.
went to bed and prayed...lol

got up at 6am and thankfully all seems well.
Malc checked water and the p.h. is a little low.should be at 8
so going to do a bucket water change today to try if this brings it back to 8.
noticed we transfered a bristle worm with the live rock,(a big bugger too)
not very nice to look at, but I guess hes been there all the time,
he hasant done any damage to fish or plants,
so I guess he is there to do his job,so let him be.
I think they only suppose to come out at night,
but with the move disturbed him,

They clean the rock and sift sand where your other c.u.c. < clean up crew can't get.

The pic's with the hermit crab I managed to capture him changing shells,
this is fasanating to see, as he gets both shell openings together, then slips into
what ever shell he wants to try on has a walk round a bit and if not suited changes back..lol
he has still ended up with the one he had, must be comfy, lol

Well here's some pic' Enjoy..............

depth front to back Not including Back chambers...
300mm hight 450mm width 500mm
bright pink, green, and the tall purple are artifical marine plants.

I bought another unbreakable heater,
to have inside tank as this flashes when it goes higher or lower
than normal temp setting.

living Corals are...

no 1 > Duncan coral frag. The clowns love rubbing themself's in this.
no 2 > Xenia
no 3 > Toadie
no 4 > Mushroom head.

Tank was 179.95 + 34.95 for skimmer
tank,comes with
everything except skimmer,
L.F.S.

We put in phospate remover in the filter chamber.

That looks so great, chez. You should turn the old tank into a Betta home - after thoroughly cleaning it to remove all traces of salt though.
