I have some kissing gouramis and some pearl guoramis and would like to introduce some guppies. Will the guppies be compatable?

Hiya and welcome to TFF Smile

Kissing Gourami's can grow up to about 12" in length (hope you have a big tank Smile), and while they can be kept in a community tank they can be a bit of a bully and push smaller fish around. Keep them with larger fish, maybe some of the cichlids.

I suspect the gupsters wont be 'eaten' as suh - not initially anyway but subject to som emajor fin nipping - it isnt the size thats always the factor - often its the speed and guppy's are not exactly fast.

Most of the barbs will be fine - even cherry and checkered barbs - as they are fast and bright enough to evade a grumpy gourami - many of the middle sized tetras will also be fine such as lemon, xray that sort if thing (not neons though) and many of the raspboras too.

There are lots of options really - but guppys for me would be borderline and I prefer to stick tot he edges of caution and say best not.

Rainbowfish are nice and generally have cheeky personalities.

Hope this helps Very Happy

hi purplenix

to the forums rich has given it to you in a nut shell
the cherry barbs would be nice good contrast in colour with the gouramis
i keep pearl & golden gouramis with no bother at all.

If you add guppies to the tank while gouramis are still juvenile, guppies will not be eaten, but still nipped, but when gouramis are adult, they will eat guppies.
