I know it may be wishful thinking but any pretty plecs (small) that would be ideal for a 60L tank? I wanted Gold Nugget but obviously tank is too small Crying or Very sad and before anyone suggests my OH didnt want me to have this tank so an upgrade is out of the question lol!

^ That should help.

I'd buy a clown pleco, they seem to be tiny enough for a small tank

Read elsewhere that my tank may be too small though, although zebra plecs are slightly smaller than a clown plec. I'm in a muddle lol!!

Don't know about the L199 phishy.

The zebra plec though are beautiful., I saw some recently in one of my local lfs, can't remember how much they were going for as I wasn't looking to buy anything. They dont grow too big either do they?

I think when one of my BN's goes to fishy heaven that might be what I go looking at.

170. lol that's close to 3 times what i paid for my tank
it sounds absurd
But then, that must be normal for you guys.

My friend got me a sailfin pleco (10 inches) for my birthday and later told me he'd paid 100 rupees for it (that's about 1.4 HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHA)

OK - something needs to be made clear here - the size suggested for the tank isnt always about the size of the fish - you have to think about the natural environment - some plecs need really really high oxygen levels in the tank to be happy and you wont get this in a smaller tank unless you turn it into a twintub washing machine.

Other things such as your filters and the amount of poo the fish creates needs to be considered too - most plecs are living fertilising machines - they poo as if it were an olympic event.

Also most are territorial by nature so need a larger area to be happy.

Now I had Snowball plecs which are 'small' but i wouldnt have had them in anything smaller than the tank they were in - the 185ltr

HOWEVER - im assuming your looking for a plec for an arcpod (like mine - 65ltrs) and I that Bulldog plecs (sometimes sold as rubbernose plecs) will be fine - but you need one important thing for them and it will sound funny but im serious - they will need a few larger rounded pebbles on the floor - this will be his/her territory and will spend most the day asleep - sucking on to the pebble Wink

Zebra plecs cost hundreds of pounds - so as stupid as this will sound - have you considered a group of otos? they wont bust up the decor - will help keep the tank clean and are quite interesting once they settle in Wink I have 4 now but had 8 at one point - my current ones must be about 3 years old now Wink

Interesting about the round pebbles Rich. Havebnt heard that before. Do you need that for all plecs or just that particular one?

Not all plecs as far as I know - rubbernose/bulldogs just see to be 'happier' with a nice big pebble to claim - i also know they like good aeration but NOT necessarily a high flow rate Wink

I will probably order another one when the weather is warmer for transit as my last was killed by that p@h ornament problem I had some time back Sad

Las time i saw a bulldog plec in a shop - it was 12 - but I got mine online form that place in cornwall (forgotten name now) for 4 although it was 10 for delivery (a fish box) i did also order other fish so it still worked out cheaper Wink

http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=318

they come in different co,lours and thus end up with different names but they are usually either rubbernose or bulldog plecs - of course be certain of what your getting - one of those sailfins I rescued was marked as a bulldog plec Wink we all know how big a proper leopard sailfin grows Surprised
