On saying that I Have just bought a small cube all glass tank with light over
for my 2 clowns when I move house
Thinking of sitting them in the corner of the kitchen out of the way
on the worktop.

the tank you linked too is acrylic - as with all things in life there are pros n cons to glass and acrylic - now glass is heavy but does (from my own experience) hold heat better - it also needs better sealing (well, just sealing) at the edges where as acrylic can be made from one piece so no edges to worry about - should last forever except for the fact acrylic is very very easy to scratch and impossible to repair.

Glass tanks usually have at least one if not two sections that are sealed to the rest of the glass - in time they can fail BUT ive never had one leak from new and most tanks come with at least a 5year warranty these days. Glass is heavy, requires a more specialist stand but wont scratch too easily and if you get one like mine, it will often have a metal reinforcing frame.

I also prefer the visual effect glass gives too - but at the end of the day - its what you like thats important - but as ive said - there are up n down sides to different tanks. The tank youve linked too looks suspiciously like it has a trickle filter built into the hood - they are ok to begin with but id suggest thinking of an upgrade filter as soon as possible if this is the case.

Im sure others will add etc to this post

As to value for money - given the pound isnt too far removed from the dollar at the minute - its quite a reasonable value - although we tend to have to pay more than you guys for the same items so it may be bordering on the 'expensive' for what it is.

As I said before, its a buyers market at present so dont be afraid to haggle, even if you pay the same money, get some free equipment out of them, if one supplier wont do this, there are plenty of others who will Wink

Trickle filter is basically whhere the water is pumped from the tank into a box full of foam - the water then drain back 'cleean' into the tank -

By upgrade I mean at some point ideally from the start- dont use the trickle filter and buy a decent internal filter or external 'canister' filter which wil in the long run do a better job giving you fewer problems

I'd prefer a glass tank- scratches are really irritating and acrylic is extremely prone to those

The weight difference in glass and acrylic doesn't really matter, because once you fill them with water and gravel, both are going to be pretty heavy

As for filters- Eheim external canister filters are brilliant
